    New gear, sitting idle...

I've had a new HG 0 degree Burrow, Incubator and WB XLC since February. I haven't had the chance to use them yet. It's like getting a bike for Christmas and living in the snow. Wanted to go out this weekend, then my wife reminds me of the out of town wedding we have to go to. Sigh! Maybe the following weekend? Sigh.

For some sick reason I am almost clamoring for winter....I should just go up in the mountains and get a winter fix....some fresh snow up there a couple days ago.

Good luck with that. We're almost into May and you're thinking of going out with a 0* quilts? I'm seriously considering using my HG 40* quilts when I go out this weekend (though I'll probably take my 20* quilts).

I feel ya. I just bought a great oversized 0 degree incubator from a forum member. It just hangs in the closet and i caress it every now and then. When I bought it I resigned myself to the fact that I would be waiting to use it.

I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

I usually go up into the mountains. It gets quite cool up there at night so the extra warmth is appreciated. One of my favourite spots is not accessible until mid June because the lake you need to paddle to get to the camp doesn't thaw until then. Locally, we still may get snow, yes in May, and nighttime temps are still dropping down to close to 0c. Part of the other reason for wanting to get out is to dial in the setup.

Sure it's May, but in Bend OR (High Desert Country) we still have nighttime temperatures in the low 30's/high 20's - but that's in town. Drive up to Mt Bachelor and hike near the top of Tumalo Mt. (not to the top 'cause there are no trees on top) and pick a LESS than ideal location so you get a little ... "breeze" and you will bond with your 0 degree gear.

I hear ya! I just picked up a 20* EE Revelation this spring and haven't had a chance to get out with it yet. Probably have a short hike with Firesong this Saturday but would love to get in some more trips before the bugs come out.
