AT Journeys Magazine Spring 2016 article about hammock camping

If you get a chance, pick up a copy of the Appalachian Trail Conference's magazine for Spring 2016, called Journeys. It features an excellent article about the virtues of hammock camping by Jeffrey Marion. I can't find the magazine or the article on line, but here's a preview:

How does the article approach the subject? Does it view hammocking in a positive light?

Oh yes, very positive. Dr. Marion is a scientist with the USGS who has been hammock camping since 2003. He also served on the ATC's Stewardship Council as Chair of the Trail and Camping Management Committee. And as a founder of the Leave No Trace Board of Directors, he makes very convincing arguments that hammock camping can have less impact on the AT than tent camping does.

P.S. Following that article, is an interview with ENO General Manager, Lane Nakaji about hammocks.

Join the AT Conservancy for $40 and get the magazine.

FYI, there's an article in the latest Backpacker Magazine on hammocks as well. It shares a very unfortunate experience of the articles author. She closes with some sound suggestions. I hate that they presented it the way they did. The casual reader could start the article, not finish it and walk away with a very negative view of hammocks. The experience was so ridiculous that she placed herself in that I cringed that it was in print for the world to read. Obviously, one should not look to this magazine as a resource for hammock related reality. I read it for some of the gear reviews (read as glorified ads) and trip ideas. Unfortunately, the article really felt like a step back for hammock use.

COOL! Mine arrived over the weekend, but I haven't had a chance to sit down to read it. Will definitely make time today!

I agree!!! I'm not sure it's even available from a newsstand. Does anyone know?
