    New Dutchie

    Hi all,

I'm Timo, a camping enthusiast from The Netherlands. I've been camping all my life, but never really in a hammock.
Why? Because I can basically only fall asleep on my belly, so not the best option in a hammock. Until someone recently pointed out the WBRR to me.
So now I'm reading all I can about the different options and solutions possible in hammocking, and that's a lot!

Eventually I probably end up with my own WBRR. Unfortunately, no dealers in the EU so I might just import it myself or wait for a second hand option from HF.

    Cheers,
    Timo

    Hi dutchie,

Im a dutchie as well and happy hammocking for quite some time. Looks like the hammock community is growing in Europe! Eventually we become as smart as the americans.
If you prefer sleeping on your belly I can also recommend the hammocktent (90 degree hammock.) You can order it in Switzerland, buying there its even duty free (saves 21%.)
And although you think that you can only sleep on your side or on your belly, you get after one night used to sleeping on your back in a normal hammock. Others on this forum will confirm that.
Now I dont mind either hammock type and don't have any sleeping preferences. Which type hammock I take on a trip depends only on the situation. (90 degree hammock for above the treeline so I can go ground or in the summer, a normal hammock for cold conditions.)

    Cheers F

    Goeden middag,
Another real good option is the AMOK D'raumr. Excellany for belly sleeping. It is a very different kind of hammock and requires a pad. Also best if 6 feet tall.

I'll second the suggestion for the Luke 90°. It's a very conformable hammock for side and stomach sleeping. The amok is very comfy as well but is very heavy. The Luke 90 Gamma UL comes in at 18oz including suspension. I own both of these.

I have the opposite problem, I can't stay awake lying on my back in the hammock! I'm convinced Dutch treats the fabric with some kind of epidermally transfused barbiturate.

    Welcome to HF.

Hey I am also from the Netherlands. Welcome to the forum. I am a bit of a sidesleeper and this is, for me, no real problem in a hammock. I can't sleep on my stomach so I can't comment on that.

    Hi Timo,

Welcome from The Netherlands from me too!

I have always slept on my side, could never sleep any other way in beds, but in a gathered end hammock I found I can sleep on my back with no problems. Probably because the hammock supports me much better than a bed does. It takes a few nights to get used to though.

I can second the 90 degree hammock, very comfortable and you can sleep on your belly. Another possibility could be the KOMA hammock from Dendronaut, a bridge hammock made in Germany. It is called koma because that is the quality of sleep you get, at least that is what its maker says. He has a month waiting time currently, but it saves you shipping and taxes for a WBRR.

I wrote to warbonnet and they gave me 3 adresses for their products in europe :
i dont know if it is ok to post them here, but you can either ask them, or PM me.
If it is ok, i'll put the emails here for every body to share.

I'm really curious about the Luke too
