I don't have cinch bugs but I believe you can still use them by splicing a DWH onto a CL. Loop the CL over the cinch bug in the usual manner, hook the DWH to the hammock CL. This is what I use on ti cinch buckles and spiders. The additional length is often welcome to keep the bar out from under the tarp (just barely). Of course if you're in good weather and hanging high it doesn't matter.

I splice my DWH on a separate CL for ease pf use as well. I bring the pole and DWHs always, but dont always use'em. Trees with multiple branches on both sides usually work for my bro and i. He weighs like 50lbs more so there is always a gnarly see-saw effect when him and I use it

How big would that little hole in the CinchBug have to be? Would it still be strong enough?

I am getting rid of my whoopee slings. They are a pain to work with. I am going simple and either going to get 12 foot tree straps and Becket Hitch direct to my Continuous loops or going tree straps to mule tape to becket hitch on hammock .

For all the Atlas strap lovers ... trade them in for the Exped suspension. Same simplicity and the lightest you'll find. Keep the huggers provided or use kevlar for some weight savings. If you use carabiners with your atlas straps, the lightest climbing rated biner currently is the Eldrid Nineteen weighing in at 19 g.

This is where I stand. 12' tree straps should be sufficient for most hangs. The only time I can imagine needing an additional 15' of Mule Tape is if you are doing a really wide hang. If that's the case though good luck getting your straps high enough to achieve a good hang.

I second that, definitely not tall enough to hang from a 20' span. 12' tree straps are plenty, becket hitch is NOT as stable or easy to undo as the J-Bend. J-Bend works with muletape.

I've been using spiders with Dutch's new poly/dyneema webbing. The setup weighs 3.7oz, not too bad.
