We are talking ounces here....I use a continuous loop thru the ends of the hammock, a light weight carabiner and Atlas straps. Simple.

Yes but Kevlar or mule tape is also very simple. With the added benefit of less weight and bulk. I like to shed weight wherever possible without sacrificing safety. However, my goals are high mileage days.

I enjoy their simplicity but can't bring myself to take them on weight-conscious hikes.

The muletape wrapped a couple/few times around the tree to the J-Bend has to be the lightest, IF its lighter than my camo straps. I have no scale to weight the strapsni use, but somewhere around 11'-12' on each side to J-Bends seems easiest to me

For a lighter, less bulky option to atlas straps, check out the Ultimate Strap.

I'm still messing with different types of suspension so my favorite now may change. For now I'm using tree straps with either a MSH and toggle or short straps with toggle in the sewn loop.... whoopies....toggle to CL on hammock end......a UCR adjustable RL. I recently made a pair of UCR's and have tested them but not overnight yet...they may replace the whoopies.

I like to keep the RL organizer on when I bag the hammock.....bag is a bishop bag on the head end of the hammock....and I like to keep the rest of the suspension separate when taking things down. Straps, whoopies (ucr's) toggles and tarp stakes in a stuff sack.

RL with prussiks and mini biners to hang the tarp, mini biner on one end of the RL to make off to tree #1 and I just wrap and half-hitch the other end on tree #2. I remove the tarp when bagging but and I keep the RL with it in the same bag.

I've very recently fallen in love with 12' 2.2 Kevlar straps becket hitched to continuous loops on the hammock. It really doesn't get any simpler.

My favorite is to try different suspension. Been using straps with whoppies, picking up some kickstarter daisy chains and am intrigued by the kevlar straps after seeing just how small they are. The photo on Dutch's website makes them look huge which has always made me not even consider them. Finally saw them in use in a video and they're very small!
