Question Warbonnet Blackbird vs Blackbird XLC

I'm looking to purchase either the blackbird or blackbird xlc from Warbonnet. I've read that someone suggested anyone over 5'10" should consider the XLC for the extra room. I am 6 feet tall, 170lbs, would you agree that I would be more comfortable in the larger hammock?

I am 6ft 2 and 275+ lbs. While I do not own a XLC, I have tried one and do find it a bit more comfortable over my standard BB's ( I own 3 ).
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I'm 6' and 160 lbs. - I found the Blackbird to be ever so slightly too small. Not so much that I couldn't get comfortable just could never get as comfortable as possible. With the XLC I was able to get completely comfortable.

Get the XLC, I am 5' 11" and 185lbs and had the same questions as I wanted to stay as light as possible so I was leaning to the regular. I spoke with Brandon about it and he suggested the 1.7 XLC and I am glad that I did. The removable Top Cover is great addition as well.

I am 6ft 185 and have never had a bad nights sleep in the WBB 1.1 DL. So just to play Devils advocate, 6ft and below can do quite well in it. Consider the other factors as well when making the decision. For example, I would alway's have the bug net carried and probably leave it on the hammock, even in winter. I like the covering and beleive it helps with temperature regulation. I sometimes throw clothing or a Mylar bag over the netting to give me a micro climate. On the rare occasion in summer without bugs, I will roll the net back and use the tie off's but never had the thought, "Dang, I wish I could remove the netting tonight". Like any decision list YOUR pros and cons and see what product matches.

I'm 4'11" and even at that meager height, Brandon convinced me to go for the XLC over the standard BB. I'm so glad he did! Several years after getting my XLC, my teenager got a standard Blackbird and I was shocked when I tried hers out...it was so much less spacious. I'm glad I went with the XLC. Even if you're short, it's still noticeably more comfortable!

I'm sure the XLC is more spacious. It does have the over cover for winter. The bug net comes off.

But, if you need less weight, want to spend less money, and don't plan to sleep in the cold, then consider the standard.

I am 6' 2" and 185. I am comfortable in the standard BB. For the above reasons, I may buy the XLC, but it would be best for you to find someone with both and try them out before deciding.

Maybe somebody in your area has one to try? Or a group hang?

I'm in the XLC camp but I won't try to twist your arm.

Was it also the double layer? And what's the difference between the 1.7 and 1.1? Thickness?
