    DIY UQ in progress

Well I got my kit from rip stop by the roll and have started my UQ project.

This site has been immensely helpful in getting that figured out. Using couple different patterns from users here(sorry don't remember right now who's PDF pattern I am using) and pattern from rsbtr.

I have my steps all laid out on paper and started last night with all the fabric cutting. Tonights plan is to get the darts sewn and get it sandwiched. Decided to go with the nylon channels all the way around so am debating whether or not to add the line locks to the ends or not like I received in the kit before I sew all the layers together.

Are there advantages to having those line locks on the ends if I am using shock cord on the long sides? I suppose one advantage would be to have the option to drop weight without using shock cord on the long sides.

The process has been quite involved so far as I wanted to be extra careful to not make a mistake. I will add that I bought the 3/4 length kit but decided to utilize as much of the fabric as possible so making the quilt 45x75.

Happy sewing! I know when using this it will be rewarding to know that I was able to make it myself.

Pictures are happening as I progress! Friend wanted me to document the progress. No videos though. Never did like being recorded.

Recommend putting the line locks on just in case. That way you have options. Options are always a good thing.

If you recall which pattern you're using, I would love to know. Looking forward to reading/seeing your progress.

I mostly used these plans. I modified the darts slightly in that on the long edges I only put in two darts on each side for the total of 1.5" differential.

I also used the plans on ripstopbytheroll.com for the line locks mostly. I can now opt to use the line locks or the channel along the long sides of the under quilt.

I only have to cut the shock cord and install on the line locks and it will be considered complete for now. I am going to test it out this weekend using only the line locks to see if that works for me. The less shock cord I have to carry the better.
