Nice nb68. I hadn't noticed that on diygear.

I (by I, I mean I helped my mother-in-law make one for me) just made one of these last night. Pictures to come soon! I used this guide here: http://kringlelight.files.wordpress....in50_guide.pdf

I used 5oz APEX, and 1.1 oz ripstop. I left out the drawstring on the top (I don't need a cape ), grosgrain side loops (these are to put shock cord below you, I'm fine tucking it in), and the snap in the footbox. The drawstring and union tape make a pretty strong hold for a footbox anyway. I'm very happy with how it came out. I don't have an accurate enough scale to dial it in exactly, but it came out to be 1 lb, 10-14 ounces.

Thanks guys! That is exactly what I was looking for!!! I like the guide you used celsmore. I think I will follow that for starters. Im just using the 1.1 ripstop from magna fabrics since I have a plethora of it. Will probably make 2 and an underquilt for my brother as well. I appreciate the help fellas! I will post pics when im done!!!

I took inspiration from Ray Jardine's concept and kits. He is legendary in UL DIY gear. Google ray way and you'll find it. I usually take a rectangle the about 48" wide and 10" longer than I am tall with a slight taper the foot end. I cut the insulation first then the fabric about 2" outside the insulation so I can fold it over the insulation and stitch the fabric onto it. I have not found a need to put in loops since the insulation is stitched to the fabric. I have only worked with Climashield because of economics and it's fantastic. Good luck in your creations.
Happy Trails to one and all.
