    1001 Uses for Reflectix?

Well, I was minding my own business looking around Lowe's when somehow a 16"x25' roll of Reflectix (that wonderful Mylar and bubble wrap stuff) ended up in my cart. I'm sure ya'll know how that happens

Anyway, the main reason I got it was to make cozies for some Ziploc screwtop containers like these here http://www.antigravitygear.com/prodd...?prod=AGCZZP4C . Now I have a whole lot of Reflectix and not a whole lot of ideas on what else to use it for.

I don't yet have a hammock, but am planning on getting a Warbonnet BB double layer. Would Reflectix make a decent pad/UQ substitute in mild weather? A foot/sit pad (better than CCF)? Use it for panels in a duct tape hoodie ?

Does anyone have any other cool ideas for this stuff?

I know people use reflectix as a lightweight pad for legs when using a short UQ. Don't know how low you can take.

I've taken it down to low 40's in combination with a Wally World CCF pad.

I recently purchased a few feet of that wide Reflectix and then cut and shaped it for my hammock. I use it as an insulating pad and it works great as it wraps around my shoulders and torso. I used it last night as a test "on the ground" (gasp!) inside my sleeping bag as a pseudo-vapor barrier. It worked wonderfully too. I also cut a small pad for my head to stuff it in my hat.

In addition to bottle cozies, you could make some cool pouch cozies if you do boil-in-a-bag meals. Just boil you water in your pot and pour the water into the bag and keep the bag in the reflectix cozy bag to rehydrate. Eat out of the bag and the cozy acts as a nice hot pad.

If you're really ambitious, make yourself a reflectix jacket with aluminum tape or duct tape.

I used my pouch cozy to insulate my back against my hydration bladder in my backpack. Worked great.

I think it would work pretty well on the inside of a UQ as a temp extender like the Yeti reflective liner. I brought some to the last hang for just that purpose if it got too cold, but didn't need it.

All the above mentioned ideas I've used reflectix, except the jacket. I don't think it works well for the pad.

RE: Using as an underquilt extender:

It doesn't drape well, so in a gathered-end hammock, it would be more like putting a pad in between your quilt and the hammock...

    Maybe in small-width pieces?

Personally, I use it for insulating the windows in my RV... (The wife has minimum requirements -- I carry my hammocks in the RV ... does that count?)

How about under a thin CCF pad (in a SPE, or similar) to extend a light pad?

I'm experimenting with insulating my foot area with velcro-attached reflectix to keep my feet warm on my speer-type hammock... Once my feet get cold, I end up with a miserable night... Any suggestions?
