Splicing Zing-it extremely easy and cheap!

I was browsing through the local hardware store today looking for something that would allow me to splice this zing-it the easiest way possible and I think I have found it! I am not sure if this has been mentioned/used here on the forums yet, but I haven't seen it. Coaxial cable has a small gauge solid copper core that works perfectly to splice zing-it! It was only $0.12/ foot so I bought 4 feet of it. Cut off an 18" piece stripped back the black, silver, and white coating about an inch from on end and used pliers to pull out the copper core. Pinched it closed at one end and it makes zing-it an absolute breeze to splice! Hope this helps someone else as much as it helped me! Happy hanging and even happier splicing!

Congrats on the find.
Zing it is a pain to splice/pull-through -- so much so that I rarely use it. I have a roll of it and have used it for my UCRs, but it is a pain to work with.

I thought that as well when I originally bought a spool of it, but this really does make it a breeze to splice.... Much easier!

Flora wire works well but if you pull to hard it will break on you. I found that a small yarn needle and a pair of pliers works best for making the locked brummels. Less hassle for me anyways.

I have tried the flora wire as well, the nice thing about the copper is that it is malleable enough that it bends as opposed to breaking.

It's been mentioned before many times no doubt but is always worth repeating and is my preferred splicing tool.

Still don't like splicing the small stuff and my buries have to be longer and trimmed to hold, but it does work.
