Another Amsteel supplier to add to the list of sources.

While in Houston on business this week, I found another source for Amsteel if anyone is interested. As far as I can tell, it's regionally the only supplier of the stuff and the guy I talked to had no idea Amsteel was being used for hammock suspension.

The Company is SWOS and it's .25$ a foot for 1/8th which is what I was interested in for my first whoopie projects. They have just about any size one might want and I saw a roll of 7/64th (I think .17$ a foot... could be wrong) while I was there. They can also get Zing-it and they do ship.

If anyone is interested in maybe tapping a new source, contact Tom Hays at SWOS (Southwest Ocean Services) at 713-671-9101 or email [email protected]. He said they're working on an e-commerce site so if they get a few phone orders, it would probably help that along.

Hope this is helpful. I'm making my whoopie slings tonight.

I like how the Amsteel, Neutron, and Quantum lines that are up to 6-5/8" diameter are still listed as easy to splice. I wonder if anyone has tried it and how "easy" it is?? now that's a safe hang!

Thanks for the link. Maybe they're cheaper on 3/8"(jeep winch) than everyone else.

Finally got the previously mentioned whoopie slings done. I had a heck of a time figuring out the fish tool. I ended up using a center wire from a coax cable and that was perfect. I tried a loop turner but kept grabbing individual threads on accident. The coax wire worked and I'll post pics when I get the chance.
