Yes! No miles, local state park to test some new gear before taking it backpacking. Going with another HF member. The spring peepers are out so it will be great to hear them all night! Can't wait to get out even for a short time.
Heck yes! Headed up San Gorgonio mountain in SoCal possibly a two tonight's with my two dogs. Not testing anything new but the weather is forecasted 30 to 40 mile/hour winds. Will have to batten down the hatches
4 miles on Friday afternoon then another six on Saturday and hiking back all 10 on Sunday morning.. Temperatures getting down below freezing at about 8000 feet where I'll be camping on Saturday night. I'll be wrapped up in the incubator 20° with 4 ounces of overstuff and and and lightened 20 deg top quilt
See how the Cuban fiber tarp handles High winds.

Wow! Can't believe how many are going out! Hope to get out in the back yard next week for some testing.
Just out at the local BSA campsite helping to teach a climbing instructors course. It's good to be back out, it's been too long.
No hanging this weekend for me, but I did go fishing today with a couple of the guys from my hiking group. We were fishing for trout at one of my favorite reservoirs in the Sierra-Nevada mountains, but no luck getting a single bite today. Still beats anything I would've been doing at home. Next weekend, I'll be backpacking with 2 or 3 other guys out near Yosemite National Park.

My wife and I did an out and back along the North Country Trail. My wife stayed in the tent with our dog while I tested my new gear. Slept in a Dutch 11' hammock wrapped in a no sew poncho liner under quilt and reflectix tucked between. Above me I suspended the 12' Tadpole hammock hung underneath it's ridge line. All the equipment worked very well in our favorable conditions, clear skies and lows in the low 40's. I can definitely see how easy it would be to try and dial everything in just perfectly. Hopefully I can try a knotty mod before the next trip! This community is really a great resource and I know I learned a ton for my first planned hang!
