I love me some XeroShoes
An optimist is a man who plants two acorns and buys a hammock. ― Jean de Lattre de Tassigny
I didn't intend for my last post to sound mean or negative in any way. I just wanted to clarify as I would have planned for a different design if other material choices were an option. I intentionally went more light weight/minimalist on my design because of the lighter weight of this particular Xenon Sil.
I would want to make a 12.5 ft tarp since I use 11 foot hammocks. I also would have doors and pole mods. Basically a blinged out behemoth.
So here's what I came up with:
9 yards of xenon sil .9-coyote brown
2 yards of black 300D materials for corner reinforcements and pole mods, Possibly stuff sack to with remnants
10 tarpworms
25 ft shock cord
25 ft Lash it
25 ft lawson reflective cord- Brown
1 roll of gutermann thread black
50 ft of grossgrain 1"
dutch hook
tarp flyz
2 pair of .344 pole tips
6 .344 male poles
2 .344 female poles
silnet
I think that covers it.
Puppy love melts even a cold heart
I would make a Winter Palace with doors and pole mods...
10 yds Xonon Sil .9 in charcoal grey
2 yds Xonon Sil 1.1 in Purple for reinforcements and double ended stuff sack
continuous ridgeline of grey lash it and 2 tarp flyz
3 yds 5/8" grey grosgrain
10 titanium D rinds
6 .344 Male poles
2 .344 female poles
4 pole tips
25 feet 3/32" shockcord
Mara Titanium Grey thread
6 hookworms
spool of Lawson reflective cord in Blue
Thanks Dutch and Alana!
I want to make a 12' all weather tarp with doors on one half vs one end. This is how I set up my tarp 90% of the time so I wouldn't need the 2 extra doors. Inside pole mod.
10 yards - Dark olive Xenon Sil .9 - tarp body
1 yard - Burnt Orange Hexon 1.6 - reinforcements
25' - lash-it - ridge guy line
2 Stingerz- ridgeline connection
2 - 3/4" Beastee D's - ridgeline tie-outs
4 - 1/2" Beastee D's - pole mod connectors
8 - line loc 3's - tarp tie-outs
5' - 1/2" black grosgrain - tie-outs/pole mod ties
2' - 5/8" brown grosgrain - ridgeline tie-out
18 - male .344 poles - pole mod
2 female poles - pole mod
4 - .344 pole tips - pole mod
50' length- orange Lawson reflective cord - guy lines
25' - 3/32 shock cord - door guy lines/pole mods
1 spool - coyote brown guterman thread
1 spool - black guterman thread
1 tube - sil net

A friend of mine recently got me interested in hammock camping. We went on our first trip recently. Here is my set up. Gotta love the plastic tarp

We already have another trip planned, so I am in the market to make an actual tarp. I am a frugal kind of guy, so I like the idea of only having 1 tarp for the time being. So I am wanting to make a good size winter tarp that I can use year round. It will have a 12'-13' ridgeline with doors. Unfortunately if I am buying the tarp myself it won't be this awesome. But if I am building the ultimate tarp I will need the basics with a little bit of bling.
11 yards Xenon Sil .9 - Charcoal Grey
1 yard 300D - Black
1 - gutermann thread - Charcoal Grey
1 - gutermann thread - Black
75ft - Yellow zing it 1.75mm
1 - wasp
6 - Tarpworms
4 - .344 Pole Tips
2 - .344 Female Poles
6 - .344 Male poles
25' 3/32 shock cord
125 ft Micro cord - Glow in the dark
2 - clip on tarp pull outs (pair, 4 total)
1- Sil Net Silicone Seam Sealer
10 - Titanium D rings
3 yards - 1/2" Grosgrain
Nano No-seeum (snake skins)
3 yds omni tape
Thanks for this opportunity! Either way I will be looking at Makeyourgear for the tarp I am needing to make
How about a simple 12ish footer with doors.
10 yards of Xenon Sil .9 Dark Olive
mara gutterman thread dark olive
1 yard of Xenon Sil 1.1 black
Pair of Tarp Flyz
3 feet of 1/2 black grosgrain
10 1/2" beastee D rings
8 worms
75 feet yellow zing it
25 Feet of 3/32 shock cord
Silnet seam sealer
maybe some glow cord, if it likes the worms
+ anything else I forgot
Can't wait to see pictures of a finished tarp, might even be mine....
