Hoping to make a 12 foot with doors for winter use, pole mod for room and stability in winds, and dutch bling for guyouts to minimize fumbling in cold weather.

    Fabrics:
10 yards Xenon Sil 0.9 in Charcoal Grey
1 yard Xenon Sil 1.1 in Black for tieout reinforcements

    Rolled goods:
1 mini spool yellow Zing-It for tieouts, ridgeline, and exterior pole mod.
6' 1/2" grosgrain for tieouts and tieout reinforcements
25 feet 3/32 shock cord for door ties and pole stringing.

    Hardware:
    2 pole assemblies, namely
    6 .344 male poles
    2 .344 female poles
    4 .344 pole tips

Planning to splice up some zingit whoopies to attach tieouts to pole ends.

    4 door hooks
    4 pairs Flyz.

One pair will be for the 2 ridge lines.
The other 6 will be for the corner and side guy outs. I will splice an eye into one end of each guyline and larkshead them onto the tarp tieout loops. Then I'll thread a Fly on and backsplice the end to keep it captive. In winter camping I can bury a stick as a deadman, loop the guyline around it, and then tension it onto the Fly. Breaking camp I'll just unhook, yank, and leave the stick buried with no need to dig.

    And one
Cuben Fiber Double Ended Stuff Sack kit to store this bad boy in.

    Thanks!

I love these raffles, mostly because it is so interesting to read what everyone comes up with!

I would make an 11ft charcoal tarp (to match my charcoal Hexon 1.0 hammock) with doors on one end. On the other end I would make a set of removable doors that I can take if I know weather will be poor, or I could leave them at home if weight is bigger consideration. The doors would close using hookworms and 3/32 shock cord. There would be shock cord and a pack hook at each door to roll it up and tie it out of the way when not in use. I would have 3x tie outs per side, using tarpworms. I would put 2x panel pulls on each panel. I would have 2x hookworms with line that I could move around to which ever panel pulls I need at the time. I would run a CRL with a wasp and dutch hook, and connect the tarp via prussiks with dutch hooks for easy on and off.

    Here's my materials:
    10yds Charcoal Xenon Sil .9
    1yd black 300D pack material
1 roll of black Gutterman thread
    2yds of black 5/8 grosgrain
    6 tarpworms
    6 hookworms
    1 wasp
    3 dutch hooks
    100 ft black 1.75 dyneema
    2 1/2" beastee dee rings
    4 pack hooks
    25ft of 3/32 shock cord

Again, you are awesome with your generosity. My ultimate tarp is actually getting back to basics. I have tarps with doors, tarps with multiple pullouts on each side, tarps will lights strung, tarps with pole mods... I really want to make just a simple cat cut (mainly because I like the look) hex tarp a bit shorter for summer weather, maybe with a single pullout on each side. 11' grosgrain RL by 96" wide,

    I would need the following:
    For the tarp:
8 yds Xenon Sil 0.9 Coyote Brown
    5 yds black 1" grosgrain
    1 yd black 1/2" grosgrain
    6 3/4" Beastie Dees
4 Tarpworms (for corner guy lines)
    2 Hookworms (for pullouts)
    50' Black Lawson Reflective Cord
    25' 3/32" shock cord
    2 Dutch wasps
50' Honey Gold Dyneema 1.75mm line

    For the one-piece Tarp skin:
    2 yds Nano-Noseeum
    1 spool black micro cord
1 Darth Vader Springless cord locks
    73 de W4BKR

I'll keep it simple -will make a hex tarp for my wife's purple set-up. I've been DIYing all of her gear and this tarp will go perfectly with her all-purple set up. It will be a hex with 2 doors.

10 yards purple xenon for the tarp and stuff sack
    1 Deep Purple Gutterman thread
5 yards Black 1 inch grosgrain
    8 beastie D Rings
25 feet 2.2 lawson black for guy outs
25 feet 1.75 black dynaneema for ridgeline tie outs
    2 tarp flyz
    2 dutch hooks
    1 Tarp Pole Mod
Clip on tarp pull outs (Pair)
4 line locks (for guy line tensioners)
1 25 foot hank of 1/8th shock cord for guy line tensioners
    4 titanium ascent stakes
1 mini cord lock for the stuff sack

Thanks, Dutch. This was fun to put together in my head.

    Hi all!

    Excellent initiative Mr Dutch!

The goal of this project is to create a very lightweight 11ish foot hex tarp for summer use. Since I'm from the northern parts of the world, I will require a dark material to block the sun late in the evenings.
Going for red cords, which should hopefully look amazing against the black . Wasps on red zing-it for ridgeline tieouts. Nano-noseum snake skin. No stuff sack .

    Tarp:

8 yards Xenon Sil 0.9 Black
    Black Gutermann Thread
2x Beastie Dees for the ridgeline tieouts
2 yards black 1/2" grosgrain for tieouts
    1x tub sil-net

    Cordage:

    2x wasps for ridgeline tieouts
    4x tarpworms for guyouts
25 feet of shock cord for the tarp worms
25 feet of red zing-it for cords
50 feet of lawson reflective red

    Snakeskin:

4 yards on nano-noseeum (or scrap that would be enough for a single 11" snakeskin(
    1 spool of micro cord

    All the best!
    - Tobias

Thanks Dutch, you rock! Specs are below for a lightweight hex tarp. Olive green, and I plan to stencil this on the tarp in white:piipio.jpg

    Later

Xenon Sil .9 in Dark Olive (8yrds)
    Nano No-Seeum bug netting (4yrds)
    1/2 inch Grosgrain Ribbon (3')

    Linelocs 3 (2pcs)
    Titantium Dutch Hook (2pcs)
    25' of Dynaglide - Orange (1pc)
    Micro Cord - 1.18mm (1pc)

Sil Net Silicone Seam Sealer (1pc)
Crayons - they might look different, but they all taste the same

Now that I have access to a sewing machine, sorry thread injector, there is no excuse not to DIM.
Thanks for the chance Dutch. (Hi Alana!)

I have an idea for a lightweight hex tarp with extension.
Here is my best guess at a materials list. (if the CF panel is off limits we can substitute with Xenon)

9 yds Charcoal Grey Xenon 0.9 (main tarp)
3 yds Cuben Fiber (extension panel)
1/2 yd 300D Grey Pack Material (reinforcement)
8 yds 1" Grey Camo Grosgrain (ridgeline and panel seam)
2 yds 1/2" Grosgrain (tie outs)
    spool Charcoal Grey thread
    spool Blaze Yellow thread
    spool Black thread
    6 1/2" D-Rings (tie outs)
    2 1" D-Rings (ridgeline tie outs)
    1 Dutch Hook, 1 Wasp
1 mini spool Grey Lash It 1.75
    6 Tarp Worms
    2 Micro Biners
    2 Ridgeline Biners
    25' Shock Cord 1/8"
6 male poles, 2 female poles, 4 tips (pole mod)
    2 Mini Cord Locks (snakeskins)
    3 yds Mesh (snakeskins)
    CF Stuff Sack Kit

sorry for pics, need to visualize what I am trying to make

Thanks for the competition, Dutch and Alana. The site looks great! I’ve been wanting to make a tarp that is taller and reaches to the ground, with doors for winter use. I’m thinking 4m x 4m with 3 tie outs per side. I’m going to put tabs inside to hold interior arch poles.

12 yards of Xenon Sil .9 Charcoal Grey
1 yard of Xenon Sil 1.1 Coyote brown for reinforcing corners and pole tabs
50' Red 1.75mm Zing-It for ridgeline and prusiks on tie-outs
    2 tarp flys
2 yards of ½” black grosgrain
1 yard of 1" black grosgrain
    4 beastee D rings, ¾”
    12 line locks
100' orange Lawson Reflective Cord for tieouts
    4 male .344 poles
    2 female .344 poles
    4 .344 tips
    6 hookworms
25 Feet of 3/32 shock cord
    4 tarp door hooks
    2 stingers for ridgeline
1 spool of Gutterman Charcoal Grey / 701
1 spool of mara 30 gutterman thread dark olive
    Sil Net Silicone Seam Sealer
    1 Tube Permatex Silicone Sealer
2 Aerohead NiteShade cord ends (snake skin end)
long narrow scraps of something scrap to make a set of snake skins
4 makeyourgear.com micro carabiners for hanging things from the ridgeline

Will be fun to try this out, hope overseas is close enough

I would like to make very simple rectangular tarp, that will cover two dutch hammocks with double hooks and spreader bar. In the same time, there must be enough place to accommodate two small children on the ground in their bivy bags. The tarp will be 4x3 meters with everything it should have, nothing new from my side The tarp will be possible to close a bit with "doors".

The tarp will not use any snakeskin. It will be carried compressed in its stuffsack made of the remaining fabric.

    What i will need is:
Xenon Sil .9 in Dark Olive (10yrds)
    300D pack material (1yrd)
    Nylon D rings 1 inch (4 pieces)
Fleaz with zing it loops (8 pieces)
    Beastie D ring 3/4 inch (2 pieces)
    Linelocks3 (12 pieces)
Continuous ridgeline with soft shackles on yellow zing it and wasp (1 piece)
SilNet silicone seam sealer (1 piece)
1/2 black grosgrain for tieouts (2yds)
yellow zing it for tieouts and pullouts (75 yds)
    mini cord lock (1 piece)
blue Lawson Reflective Cord for the additional tieouts near the ridgeline (50ft)
3/32 shockcord (25 feet is too much)
Gutermann Thread dark olive (2 spools)

    Thank you
