They had 100 mph winds at the Oregon Coast. Portland, OR got 2 inches of rain on Thursday and that is supposed to be the "light" day. Saturday there is a high wind warning up and down Oregon/Washington from the Coast to the Cascade Mountain range. I think it is a good idea to stay home... you trees your hanging in might just blow down!!

Yesterday we had a plan to Hang along the coast as we have done during storms in the many times past.
We decided against Hanging because the rivers were filling fast, we were woreied about flooding. Wind, rain okay, flooding not okay.
Last night, tree coming down right in front of us, no chance to stop, just lucky we could avoid hitting the main mass of the tree.
Driving home in very low visability we had a very large tree come down right in front of us, no a chance to stop. We veered to the left ran over a lot of small limbs, really rough travel, lucky our rental car was not the usual pile of junk most of the vehicles are. We stayed sunny side up, we did not hit any big limbs.
This was our fourth concerning event with a tree in a 12 month period.
    1. A 67 year old tree in my yard split right down the center, took part of my roof.
    2. Tree came down on two little kids camped next to us, killed the little guy and left his cousin seriously injured.
    3. Camping near Sisters, we had just finished setting up camp, heard a odd sound, it was a huge Douglas Fir crashing to the ground! No storm, just nice symmer weather, no wind nothing, tree looked healthy. Really uncomfortablely close. I am an admitted Adrenalin Junky, however, I think my guardian angel who has kept me alive all these years is aending me a message about trees. I am getting a little worried.

Ironfish45 - you are having quite the time with trees. Stay safe out there.

And thanks to the rest for the weather update. The winds sound crazy. Not good to be mixed with rain to loosen things up.

I live in Tacoma. But two of my favorite places for multi-day trips are Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens. Is that area do-able for you? And I wouldn't mind seeing what the Gorge is like, also.

For sure Mt Adams, I live and work right around the base. Harder to get to "the other side of the mountain" when that road is usually closed for the winter and driving all around is a pain.

Anyone still thinking about the Gorge? I suspect it is going to be a short notice thing, the weather is so unpredictable.
