So... 7'10.5" Yikes.
it probably would work better as a ground shelter than as a hammock tent. If the bottom is waterproof, then it's excellent for a bivy tent basically.
About prices, in kickstarter is early bird prices, not tag price. so if project is success. Price may be rise 20-30%
Waterproof VS. Water Resistant
My job is in dry bag product section. So 'Waterproof' is marketing word, but company not lie!! Waterproof word use for material NOT Product!! Product just water resistant. So I have 2-3 clients need to claim about drown camera and smart phone because 'waterproof' word.
About design, last year. I have client. He is soldier and need to re-design tent for 1 person, fly sheet can be poncho or hammock. it's like flying tent. By the way i shock about Clark have patent and ready to sue flying tent. (I think i read news about Clark sue Alpine hammock 2 years ago because use 2 poles) but Clark not sue Lawson hammock?
About waterproof bottom, i found condensing problem. But it's not really condensing effect. Waterproof can protect moisture or rain drip but when fabric hold a lot weight, waterproof layer will be extend and have some pin holes. I gonna to try fabric coat waterproof 10,000 mm. if have a result i will be report here.
DD Hammock is doing something similar:

I always wonder what kind of research developers of "hammocks" like this have done. It can't have included some reading on HammockForums... Even the tiny DDs look generous in comparison. Well, this certainly will convince 90% of the users that hammocks are uncomfortable and that tents are so much better. More trees for meIt blows away any other hammock solution.
So the UQ goes on a Muddy tent floor, Um no.
Also seems like there would be roll over issues with the suspension running underneath and a short and narrow sleep area.
