It would also be good to know the length of your hammock, but I have a guess that there is a sweet spot in height where the knotty mod is preferred.

I am 6' and have it on an 11' and 10'6" and love it. Helps to keep my top quilt in place as it creates a bit of a foot box.

I'm 6'2", I have the knotty mod on an 11 foot hammock. I have never used it beyond just trying it out. It serves no purpose to me.
I have used it plenty of times.. IMO the only real way to keep your TQ in your hammock is a built in net. It might help a tiny amount, but really it isn't that helpful. Does help to tighten excess fabric however.
How tall are you Intimidator?
6'3", 11', knotty on head end only. I don't have any issues with the tq staying in, but man I love the fabric not draped in my face
6' 1 or 2.
I'm 6' and instead of the classic knotty mod I sewed 1/2" heavy duty elastic to the hole edge of the hammock on both sides, it really creates a troff and after using it fore a couple months now I really like it. No more fabric in the face, there's a foot box, a head box and I haven't dropped my pillow or TQ sense I did it.
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...
5'8" 11'x60" and have a knotty mod on all my netless hammocks.
6'1" and I've only used a knotty mod if the hammock was wider than 60". Never seem to need it otherwise, even on 11' hammocks. My head/feet always end up right at the edge and no issues with stuff falling out of the hammock
