    Side sleeper

Do side sleepers prefer bridge hammocks or gathered end?
Also, if you sleep on your right side predominantly, does that mean you want a right or left asym in order to keep your face out of the bug netting?

I have found that when I sleep in a hammock as a side sleeper, having something to "hug" helps are great deal. I have a longer camping pillow that I use on my stomach and waist. This gives the impression of both a stomach or side idea in the bed.

I prefer a gathered end hammock as opposed to a bridge. I sleep sort of curled up. Not enough room for that (for me) in a bridge.

I think it's irrelevant how you sleep on the ground or in a bed, because a hammock isn't a bed. I'm a side sleeper in a bed, but I find that to be uncomfortable in a hammock. Therefore, I learned how to sleep on my back in a hammock.

If you're unable to learn a new way of sleeping (you won't be alone), you can go for a bridge hammock, but you'll pay a weight penalty (and there are other drawbacks).

I'm a right side sleeper in a bed but am a left lay (feet left) in a hammock. I don't want to face the "Wall of Hammock" so left lay it is and my face is freeeeeee.

I also have a Ridgerunner bridge and I can side sleep with my legs straight out or semi fetal but not full fetal as my knees hit the tight side of the hammock. I feel more secure in a gathered end on my side, the bridge feels more tippy and I have to get balance perfectly on its fulcrum.

I sleep with feet to the right and move around a lot. I go from kinda facing the right to laying on my back and then half fetal facing the left. Since I use a WBBB XLC I have the sides of the hammock pulled out to keep the fabric out of my face but usually end up with the underquilt suspension pressing into my head when facing left. But I've found that my spine and legs are alined perfectly in that left facing position with the hammock cradling everything better than my bed. I don't own a bridge hammock but have heard that it can be too stiff for side sleeping and your hip and shoulder might not sink in enough like it would on a gathered end hammock. That's what has kept me from buying one. But everyone is different.

So, if I lay on my right side in a GE hammock, I would want a left asym in order to keep the netting out of my face?

Head to the left of the ridgeline and you should be good.

I sleep on both sides and my back and my head stays right all night long. Usually the side of the hammock is what you're facing. It's high enough that your face won't be against the bugnetting. Also people tend to turn their heads down when side sleeping, so that keeps it away from the edge too.

I tend to sleep on my left side in my bed and have my hammock set up head left feet right. When i sleep in it i spend most of my time on my back, but if i do roll over on my side the bugnet never bothers me. I have tie outs, but don't always use them, never noticed a difference as far as side sleeping gos.
