Wow! Thanks for the info. From the sound of it though it sounds like more of an issue for climbers. I don't think the opening would effect my hammock hang. I usually hang from my Warbonnet biners anyway.

When I had trouble finding biners that were definitely made in the USA (I called and found a few at Omega Pacific), and ran across a climbing forum in which someone posted that Black Diamond was going to go back to manufacturing theirs in America. All my B-D biners were fine, but people won't forget this shameful incident.
