In the tropics I do without the Uq insulation...still have the Uq cover attached & ready to be deployed, to cut out that chill breeze that blows in, in the early hours.
    Tarp in porch mode...
Plus a tshirt or silk sleeping bag liner hanging on my ridgeline, easy to grab if your body cools down too much.
My pillow/ stuffsack has a sleeveless puffy jacket in there if I need more warmth.
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

I'm originally from Richardson and my folks live in Plano. If I was going to hang around there in the summer, I'd go without any insulation at all, and wear cotton shorts/t-shirt. A small fan is a great idea. I wonder if the reverse of the hot water bottle trick would work? Fill it with ice and cold water instead?

I am not a fan of Heat and Humidity. I'm what you call heat intolerant. I don't care for temps over 82*. I did upgrade my fan set up to a USB fan and a Anker battery pack. Works for several days instead of putting a new set of batteries every night. I normally set it up on the ridgeline but this year I'm going to try setting it under my hammock blowing up at the underside. We'll see which is more cooling.
I love living in Buffalo for the weather. Summer doesn't have a lot of humidity and the temps rarely ever hit 90. I live right next to that great big natural air conditioner called Lake Erie. I don't think I could move any farther South then I am now. My friend tried to get me to move to Phoenix and I asked him if he was nuts! It is beautiful out there but for crying out loud- 6 months out of the year it over 100*. I went to a football game at the end of Oct and it was 101*. Geeeez! I only go out to visit him between December-February.
Hanging in the woods, paddlin and catching trout- My kind of living...

Heat-Out base layer from Cycle Gear used in conjunction with a PLUQ and/or a poncho liner on top works pretty good when it's muggy

When going without the UQ in the summer be sure to treat your hammock with bug repellant/killer. Those skeeters will bite right through a single layer hammock. (Double layer hammocks keep the skeeters out better, but reduce the air flow as well)

Hammock fabric can play a roll as well. For example, Hexon 1.0 breathes much more readily than 1.6 and 2.4.

Let's talk hot and humid hammockery.

living in Michigan, it can get very humid during the summer. Unfortunately that high humidity often means a storm is coming or has just passed.
So how do you deal with the heat and humidity in the middle of a storm and porch mode may not be possible?

    Ditto...
Having a unworn clean dry shirt to sleep in helps a lot imo; the silk sleeping sack provides warmth in the early AM hours and it packs down really small too.
