Hello from Daniel Boone National Forest

Long time lurker, thanks to everyone who's helped me along and didn't even know it. I'm a former Marine and a current locomotive engineer who thought that after back surgery in 2010 that my camping days were behind me. I couldn't sleep at all on ground. I started out with a gt double, but have since lightened up with a dutchware hexon. I've started going lightweight, I'm trying to extend my backpacking career. It's hard work keeping up with my sons 20 yo and a 15 yo.

Welcome from Nashville, TN. I've hiked a couple of times in the DBNF on the Sheltowee Trace. In fact, last time found an abandoned ("dumped") puppy. He's now a year old and my faithful hiking companion. He got named "Boone" after the DBNF.

Rain Man, I'm heading out the door to do a quick overnight on the Sheltowee. Alum Ford to Yamacraw. It's nice being able to go out the door and be on the trail within 10 minutes. Good for you on saving the pup.
