    Yes i said it would be usefull for some things.

    In the case of whoopie slings i suspect that it doesnt have any noticeable effect because of the doubling at the eyes, at least for D/D ratios of 1 or greater. If you splice two eyes to each other you get a D/d of about 1, hasnt there been break tests on that?

    If someone was really concerned about their Samson/Dynaglide rope/cord breaking at the determined "weak link" they could always take the tail of the buried end and run it around whatever the locked brummel loop is attached to and then do a half hitch to double up this section where the braid is compromised.
    However, if any non engineer/scientist like my wife reads this she will declare us all victims of Asperger's Syndrome or ODC or something like that and in need of therapy.

    Yikes! Two cardinal sins there; using a knot in Amsteel and losing the simple adjustability of a whoopie sling. Control those OCD tendencies man!
