I have the Kelty Noah 12 ($65) and love it, is a little heavier then others but can be setup in a way that it has doors to close in ends........... Dutch 11' net less hammock can be had for under $50 and Eno ($45) or Dutch bug net ($57) are both great values. so if you could stretch the budget to roughly $160 you could have hammock, net, and tarp. but at the $130 budget you could do net less hammock and bug net with a Walmart blue tarp to start.

    Need advice with my situation!!

One thing I'd recommend that didn't cost much. Make or buy a structural ridgeline 83% the length of your hammock. Don't assume the length is per spec. Drape it over an inside door and measure the length as you are pulling down, giving it a reasonable stretch. The ridgeline will help set the hang right. 83% is a rule of thumb. Sometimes I prefer it shorter.

Fronkey style bugnet it's easy to make. Another entry level option for a tarp is a silnylon 8x10' flat tarp hung by the corners. I got one years ago from Campmor. Very versatile.

Thanks a lot guys for all the help! I just got a bit extra money so now my budget is about 175, but if a buy a dutch hammock, I also have to buy suspension. Are there cheaper options than the whoopie slings that you can add on?

Yep, I have a structal ridge line on my end and will be sure to do the same if I get a new hammock! As for a fronkey bug net, I have no idea how to make one... Lol

Some of my camping buddies camp in their Enos. They work just fine. You may need an add on bugnet someday but just get on out and go.

FWIW - if your budget is tight look at urethane coated nylon or polyester instead of sil. Heavier but cheaper and probably more durable.
As folks have said ENO works but there are better. OTOH You need a tarp more than anything else if you do not have one.

Consider a strap suspension as a real alternative to whoopies. Many (most?) prefer them for a lot of good reasons.

There are many threads in the forums about how to make any part of your camping setup. Some require sewing and some do not. Give them a look. If nothing else you will appreciate what you pay for. ;-)

My son has a ENO doubleness and I have a 1/2wit and ever time we hang our hammocks he tries to take mine. The extra length makes a big difference in comfort. I'm getting ready to order a couple more from Dutch so my son will stop trying to take over mine. Dutch now had a 72" wide hammock.

Did your eno come from rei? Return Everything Inc.

Trade it in and go long.

    It's a little ridiculous but I went to 156".

So you need a tarp? Sounds like you have enough to start out. I would just get a used tarp from this forum. You can get a fronkey style bug net for the hammock. Some straps, use the buckle suspension. SAVE the rest of the funds. Go out camping in a state or national park. Practice. See what you like and don't like. Attend a hammock hang near you to check out all the other gear, vendor as well as style. Then reasses.
