DIY Under Quit Costco throw blankets or Climasheild RSBTR Kit?

I was just at my local costco today and they have a pallet of those black diamond blankets i keep hearing about. They are 29.99 canadian. I am debating what would suit my needs better for getting to some cold temps like -10C. How warm would stacking two of these quilts together be and would it be worth making an underquilt from stacking two of them? Or am i better off ordering the climatesheild 10 oncze kit from RSBTR and building my own? Would buying just one of those costco throws and placing it in between my hammock and snugpak underblanket be enough? Dang it i wish i had of bought one cause i could have tried that tonight..LOL

A 10oz apex quilt should be good down to around 0f, 7.5oz is good for around 10-15f, and 5oz is around ~30f.

The Costco throw is supposed to be warm down to around 40-50f. They should add around 10-15f worth of warmth to another layer, if that helps at all.

That does help. I dont think the costco throw is gojng to give me the horsepower i need for the really cold hangs i have planned for next winter..i may as well invest in a a rsbtr under quilt kit made with 10 ounce apex.. i have tired a ton of different combos now and i am pretty sure i have it down to no having enough underquilt..

I'd definitely skip the costco throw and go straight for what you need.

Yeah. If you can afford to commit and are gonna go all the way winter camping . . . Why beat around the bush when you can lay down in said bush and sleep.
