So here I am... a guy who has given up the tent. I hunt and fish in some extremely remote areas and hated the hassle of a "ground shelter". After too much youtube and a bit of cash I have ended up with a Legit double hammock, whoopie slings, and a 10x10 snugpak tarp. I have been down to 14 fahrenheit with a down bag and a mat. Just here to get ideas, have fun, and hope be part of the hang.

I live in Powell Butte, and do most of my outings east of the Cascades. Headed up to the three creeks area after work for a quick over night. How about you? Basic gear set? and what moved you to a hammock?

My middle daughter worked at the REI in Bend, OR for a couple of years, until she moved to Corvallis to finish her college degree at OSU.
I had never heard of Bend, now it pops up everywhere. Just saw a "Captain Obvious" TV commercial and he's "running for President" there. Also recently saw and old, old Paladin TV show on cable, filmed in Bend.
