I would agree that the knotty mod is not all things, it's not an absolute must have. I find the difference subtle, yet it definitely falls to the positive side for me. Can't say as I've had stuff falling out, but then the mod is always in play for me. I just don't care for the floppy fabric. To each his own.

Does the Wide Fabric help side sleepers?

I just tried 12x6 Hexon 1.6 made by Wilderness Logics. Have not got to try overnight yet. Very Comfortable. Left lay, right lay either--both side side sleeping, and fetal and stomach! And lay on back in middle and straddle with feet spread. This is gonna be my go to hammock and now might get a longer bugnet and longer tarp.
Large sweet spot--can lay just about anywhere in hammock

When Marty ordered that material and told me it was going to be for a 12 x 6 hammock, I said noone needs a hammock that big. Marty said that he tried to talk you out of it. Now I am thinking I want one. Marty.......

For those of you who have gone with the Wide, I have a few questions for you.

    1) Is it more comfortable, is it a flatter lay? And side or stomach sleepers using it?

    2) What about the underquilt? Will a standard size underquilt still work with the Wide?

    3) What about the bug net? Will an 11' Fronkey work?

Thanks guys! I'm always looking at new gear, I like what I have now, but if I could get more comfort, why not!

What I've noticed for me is a larger sweet spot and more room to move around while I'm sleeping. I was right on the edge with standard width fabrics and either my arms, legs, or gear were always falling out. I don't have that issue with the wider fabrics. That's about the only difference for me. My underquilts and bug nets still work exactly the same.

I'm only 5'4" and I like having a couple more inches to find a comfortable spot. I think you get more out of a wider width with firmer fabrics. With stretchy fabrics I get a pronounced bathtub shape and it's difficult to go diagonal. However, I have never found a gathered end hammock in which I could sleep on my side. But that's probably due to the fact that I like to stretch out the arm on the side facing down, which is simply very uncomfortable in a gathered end.

As long as the underquilt fits you, the dimensions of the hammock should not really matter too much. However, with all underquilts I have used so far, it gets a bit more fiddly to get a good fit the more diagonal you go. At my size, I have always been able to make it work, but probably a wider underquilt would make it a bit easier to get a good fit.

I don't see any reason why a Fronkey bug net should not work. Unless it is cut very tight.
