    Recent Order Experience

Hi everyone, long-time lurker here. So, I knew about some of the issues that others have had with ordering OES tarps, but decided to pull the trigger on one anyways. Ordered a forest green MacCat Deluxe in SilPro on Feb. 26 and it arrived today. Craftsmanship is beautiful, seam-sealing is clean, and it shipped promptly. Didn't have any special requests or any other things ordered, so I can't comment on that; but I'm pleased as punch with my ordering experience. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Happy hanging!

With so many reports of frustrated, "would be buyers" posted here, what was it about the MacCat that was so appealing that you were willing to roll the dice and place an order? This is a sincere question. I have owned 5 tarps from 3 different vendors. While I strongly considered ordering a MacCat, I was deterred where you were not.

I've never heard anything bad about the quality, just the quality of customer service. It's not something that a single positive experience could erase.

I think the major factor was that of very little lead time. I'm hoping to do some bikepacking this week and wanted a tarp quick so I didn't have to bring a tent instead of my hammock. Also, I wanted something in silpoly and had heard nothing but good things about the quality of the actual tarps (seam sealing issues aside). With all of those factors combined, it seemed worth a go. While this by no means exonerates OES from the issues many people have had with communication and order fulfillment, I'm happy with my experience.

My experience with OES was great, although that was over 5 years ago. I am happy to say that my macat ultra is awesome and the original seam seal is still perfect too. That being said, I do sometimes dream of a tree falling on it or a bear ripping it to shreds just so I have to replace it with a cuben tarp.
