    >Canada>Ontario>Algonquin in Springtime 2016

    161.jpg

Figure it's time to start discussing Algonquin in May.

Canoes, good food, all the usual.

Possible weekends in the order of preference:
May 6-8 ( a bit early but with this year's weather I'd expect an early ice out)
May 27-29 (starting into bug season for those who really care.
May 20-23 (long weekend busy but easier for some to get time off)

I've left the 13th-15th off the list because I'm taking students backpacking that weekend but of course if that is what works for people, so be it.

Location? As long as there is water I'm good though probably leaving off of HWY 60 would make sense since some of the other access roads can be difficult in spring.

This sounds like fun. I hope I can make it. I am on holidays the week of May 22 but will be away at a piping competition May 27-29.

I really can't wait for soft water and camping.

I've been wanting to get to Algonquin for a while. I would want to do more of an extended trip as it is a bit of a far trip for me(4.5 hrs each way) for just the weekend. Unfortunately I think I have plans for May 29th weekend. I'll keep an eye on this thread and see how it pans out. I definitely want to be in a canoe in Canada at some point this year!

6-8 would be my preference. I'd love to make it out to one of these, finally.

If date established fairly soon I'd love to try my first group hang. Huge bonus it'll be in my favourite place! I also vote for 20-23 but would be happy to extend a day or two either side of that if others want to ... may do so anyway even if solo.

Long weekend would be nice. Might I suggest putting in at Canoe and heading into Burnt Island Lake or possibly Little Otterslide. Its a nice easy paddle and non of the portages are terribly taxing.

I would love to canoe in but the logistics might be tough for some people.
