    Here is map to campsite # 2 . NOTE exit 78 now 278 since 69 got lengthened .Note 2 Look for yellow pipe if you want shortcut , otherwise hike about 1.5 miles further .

    JSalamonie Lake Indiana . Showing exact campsight and Warren exit 278 on I 69

    Red = non interstate automobile .
    Blue = foot power to campsight
    Green = boat to campsight

    Parking lot
    Follow red path to small lot for foot traffic parking .
    Do not take the last left but go straight down 700 W to boat ramp and boat ramp parking if you elect to come by boat .

    Topo of the same trail . Black line is the designated trail . Blue line is the shortcut behind the yellow pipe gate .

    Being new to this group hang stuff, any suggestions on what to bring? I mean the usual camping gear and stuff I understand, but anything us rookies might easily overlook?

    Do you play any musical instruments?

    Seriously I can't think of anything special, just plenty of water or a filter. Same stuff you'd always take .
    Just be sure to look for the yellow pipe on the correct trail. If you follow the designated Blood root trail it adds a mile and a half to your hike. Actually one or two guys do elect to take the scenic route just because they enjoy hiking with full gear .even though it's a short hike there are a few hills .

    ...anyone? I'm not setup for trail instruments, but I am a rhythm section and accompaniment for many people. Depending on what anyone else may bring (lead) I may be able to bring a piece or two...

    I've got a harmonica out in the shop but I don't know how to do anything except make noise with it. Probably be best for all involved if I leave it at home. Lol!

    I was there a month ago and there are 2 picnic tables at site #2. The site is first come first serve so that always makes me nervous. There are only 2 sites that are walk in.

    Sometimes there is no lake , just a river , depending on when they close the dam . One camp I was at Mule was playing a diggerydoo made out of PVC . Don't see that everyday .

    I usually try and get there early Friday or even Thursday to put my money in the pipe . So far nobody has beat me . Even if they did the peninsula is about 4 acres or so Id just set up on the other side with no picnic table .
