That's exactly what I use it for because it is gigantic. It definitely takes some practice pitching to get good at it. I have the most luck pitching it with a ridgeline like a hammock tarp. You will definitely need some strong cordage that doesn't stretch.

I will be watching for your set up pics. That is big tarp sir! I have not used it but wanted to grab one. Sportsmans Guide had a nice deal on these.

I have one, and I like it. Much easier to pitch than canvas. Packs light and small.

If you already have one fine use it but I would not go out and buy one if it is to be your primary tarp for your hammock. They are just too big.
16' means you will need trees about 17-20' apart and that will messup your hammock strap angle. Site locations will also be harder to find. IMO the 12x12 is far more useful and as large as I would go.
    YMMV

Great for a group tarp but a little too big for a hammock set up IMO. I've seen it used over two hammocks though. There are cat cuts so it wouldn't quite be a16 foot ridgeline.

While we will be utilizing our two WB Superfly tarps with our respective WB hammocks this season... We do use either of our two Noah 16's around camp too. The photo below is one taken last season set up over two Amok v3s (now sold). In this case it was there to basically act as a shade-shelter and to keep pine needles off the hammocks.

I think there are lots of reasons to have one or more Noah's tarps in a camp setup.
