I collaborated on a similar Single Line Susp (SLS) and used it for part of a season.. Found it to be a bit inflexible.
A single tree strap at each end, I used either 12 or 15 footers, attached to the hammock with a double whoopie hook (any attachment method will work).
I made a diamond knot on a loop in Dynaglid and prussik'd that on the tree strap above the hammock connection. To that diamond knot I attached a length of line that was to be the tarps ridge line. You can skip the diamond knot and just prussik the ridge line to the strap, but I wanted it modular and tend to over-engineer stuff. I added a Dutch Hook Worm, that hooked to another diamond knot on the tarps ridge tie out, so the length of the ridge line tension could be adjusted while moving the tarp higher and lower relative to the hammock. So the prussik was used to change the tarps height and the hook worm was used to tension the ridge line.
