    Another Half-Wit Question

    Hi All,

Just got my Half-Wit and plan to use it at the beginning of an AT thru hike. The one issue I'm having is that I can't seem to keep the continuous loops from coming undone and out of the gathered end. It is a real pain to thread the loops back in. Is there an elegant knot or way of locking these into place? One way would be to keep the suspension attached but I keep my suspension separate and connect to the hammock with whoopie hooks. This is so that a wet suspension can be packed separate from the dry hammock. Any ideas?

It needs to be "knotted" with the loops, they should not be "free" If no one else responds today, I snap some pics of my half-wit loops tonight.

I am having the same problem with another type of hammock. I would like to see the "knotted" in the loops also.

Sorry for the delay, Sunday's are always busy for me.

By knot, I mean the friction of the loops here:

This is my halfwit. They should not slip out at all

Here is my son's Dutch hammock

    Same thing.

Should be tight enough to stay in with zeros issues

I leave my whoopies on the end, but if you didnt want to do that just put a tiny carribeener or larks head a thin bit of shock cord through both loops.

not sure why it would be slipping loose. the continuous loop should be larks headed onto the sewn channel end of the hammock. after laying in my dutch hammock the continuous loop is stuck tight...it takes determined effort to loosen it.

Until you lay in it, the larks head does come loose easily, afterward, not so much.

Yeah giving it a good lay shoulld tighten then up to where you will have to use quite a bit of force to loosen them up again.
