    Spreader bar for tandem hanging

Got the wife convinced to try hanging.
I ran across a thread talking about using a spreader bar to allow separation of two hammocks hanging from the same tree. But the thread was obviously by people already familiar with the concept.

Tried a seach to get some beginner information, but no luck.

Can you guys point me in the right direction for what equipment is needed and a tutorial of sorts?

Will be two WBBBs if that makes a difference.

    Thanks.

I'd be interested in learning what you find out as I've been interested in this too. I remember some members made their own nylon pockets that would slide over the head end suspension. The had a pocket on them for the spreader bar. If someone made these or if Dutch makes something, do tell !
    Thanks, J

Been using trekking poles as spreader bars for sometime with no issues. I just made some loops with a bit of cord and have them larksheaded to the suspension of both ends of both hammocks and the larkshead to the pole. Easy.

Nothing wrong with trekking poles though.

Are both hammocks under same tarp? I would think it must be but am unsure if they are 'spreading' tarp too.

Dutch sells the whoopie hooks and the spreader bars for this now.
I can fit 2 people under a WL tadpole, but I do have to hang the tarp higher than normal.

I use Dutch's double whoopie hooks and his spreader bar. You could get away with a stick, pvc, or trekking pole. The trekking pole being best because of adjustability. I am able to fit both my hammock and my gf's hammock under the Superfly without issues. I can see it being an issue if your tarp is smaller though.
