GA > Good Friday Hang - March 25th - Georgia Hangers

I just found out I have this Friday, the 25th off for Good Friday.

I have to cache some food for a hike the first week of April. I am going to do the Georgia Loop.

Anyway, I am going to head up on Friday and was wondering if anyone else might be off on Friday for a Georgia Hang.

Raven's Cliff Falls is one thought or I have many other ideas depending on interest.

Anyone is welcome, not just the Georgia Hangers. Sorry about the short notice.

    Carl

It is a tough weekend with Easter.

That is why I want to go out on Friday night.

The weather looks like it may be pretty nice.

The Georgia Loop is a 60 mile loop using the Duncan Ridge Trail (18.6 mile), the Benton MacKaye Trail (17 miles) and the Appalachian Trail (24.6 miles).

The BMT, DRT trails used to be the original AT before it was moved, I think in the 1970's.

The DRT is supposed to be the toughest trail east of the Mississippi River (according to Backpacking Magazine). I guess I will find out in April.

How many days are you going to hike it in?

Have you ever been to the Arkaqua Trail from Trackrock Gap to brasstown Bald? It's not a long trail (+- 6mi) but the first two miles are brutal!

I will take 6 days to hike the Georgia Loop. The first day alone I have to climb Blood Mountain, Slaughter Mountain, Wildcat Knob and Coosa Bald in 8 1/2 miles. If I can get that done, the rest should be a breeze.
Spending the final three days of the hike on the AT with the thru-hikers heading north. That is always a fun time.

I have never heard of the Arkaqua Trail. I will have to give it a shot. thx.
