How to make sew lines on argon 90?

    Dutch.

I'm trying to sew up my new quilt and having a heck of a time making the lines for the chambers. I have a washable white fabric marker but that barely makes a visible line. Pencil doesn't work, chalk doesn't work. Crayon would but you'll be able to see it.

Is there a brand pencil or marker that you guys use?

    Thanks.

I've used sharpies, but that won't work if you're worried about viability.

I just use white crayon on all of these UL fabrics. It's all on the inside most of the time and walmart is not rubs off in a couple trips

thanks guys, the thing I have is from joann. I might try the white crayon, it's on the outside due to being a sew thru quilt. It will be inside the quilt and it makes sense that it would rub off after a while. Honestly a sharpie would be fine too since no one would see it. Still would rather not have the lines if I can avoid it.

I haven't worked with Argon 90, but I've used a piece of soap on other <1oz/yd fabrics, works every time. When my bar of soap is nearly used up to the point of tossing out, it has a nice thin, sharp edge that marks well and rubs off.

I like to use masking tape. Sharpie always has ended badly for me and I thing those fabric marking pens were meant for burlap or something. The pressure it takes to write with them is not something I am prepared to do to 10 or 15D fabrics. So I place masking tape right beside where I am going to attach the baffle. It seems to come up clean and doesn't leave and residue. Here is a pic. i also write the number on the tape so I don't miss a baffle. There are other ways but that is what I do.

Crayon will work, or better yes wax markers for sewing. Try this out on scrap before you commit to the finished project, but those wax sewing items are made to melt under heat and melt away when ironed. Places like Wally World would not sell the wax sewing crayons. You will likely only find them at places that have a tailoring clientele. Make sure they are wax. The cheap ones are pressed powder and they do not work well.
