decent tarp that won't break the bank

    Hey all,

I'm looking for a decent tarp that's relatively lightweight (doesn't need to be UL). I plan to set it up with a snake skin eventually, and would prefer it have enough tie outs to use in porch mode or storm mode.

My budget is around 100 or so. My hammock is 11 feet long.

UGQ has some great deals on their “penny pincher” tarp. It is not that much more than a DIY tarp.

    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

I've been looking for my next tarp as well. From my notes :

    Warbonnet mambajamba around $120

Dutchware has a couple around that price, notably the asym wide.

Cheapest option is DIY, and RSBTR has several under $80 but you've got to sew.

If weight is not a big concern go to Hennessy and check out the current odds and ends sale. Lots of tarps listed, most well under $70 or so.

Those are a really good deal.

Also make sure you look at the different vendors' clearance. blemish or seconds sections. You can pick up tarps there that might have some aesthetic flaw but is still fully functional for a discount.

And of course keep your eye on the forum's "for sale" section. I've gotten some pretty good deals from other members here. Good luck!

Hammock Gear Quest Tarp. It's the same tarp that Dutch sells as the Xenon Hex Tarp, but cheaper. It's also available in 11 and 12 ridgeline. I bought one and haven't been disappointed. Mine is about 14 ounces with the snakeskins and 4 tarp fleaz, and a Dutch Continuous ridgeline in the stuff sack. Also the tarp will not need to be seam sealed so that will save you some money and time.
