Anyone have one? How's it compare to snakeskins?
It's just as easy as snakeskins. I upgraded to one for my cuben tarp and gave my mesh snakeskins to my son.
It works great. I have a warbonnet mamjamba and an edge. Slides on each of them nicely.
I am assuming you would choose a cuben sleeve for weight savings, how much weight difference was there?
Are there any other benefits as opposed to the mesh skin?
I understand that a sleeve is one piece where as the skins would be two pieces.
Mesh dry better, but are more fragile
I've often wondered if the mesh actually does anything. It seems like once my tarp is rolled up wet, it stays wet. I agree the mesh may dry the outer most exposed 2 inches of tarp, but the rest is still wet.
I wasn't weight conscious when I bought them. It is pretty light though. I honestly didn't realize the HG tube was one piece until I got it. It works really well. Buddy has mesh skins. His tarp is just as wet as mine. He is currently getting a full hiking setup for his wife put together. He said he wants a one piece over the two. each will work just as well I think.
I have a mesh one on my SF, and a Cuben one on my HG. tarp. I actually prefer the mesh one. It does breathe more letting out any excess water. It also folds down smaller then the Cuben as well. I have had the mesh one for about four years now and the Cuben for about two. Both are holding up fine.

I have one, I use it on my WBBB XLC, it's big enough to put a HG pillow on the end. I got it to keep my hammock water proof, if caught in a rain storm or pack gets soaked. As for my tarp I use mesh diy snake skins. It's supposed to get wet lol.

I've never used snake skins but use the HG Camo one. It is much more pliable and squisable now that I have used it a half dozen times. Works fine for me. It bunches up on just one side so if your tree distance is close together it can get in the way of your hardware hanging the ridge line for your tarp. I like mine more now that it's softened up. I didn't know that cuben did that.
