Plus the ridgeline tie-outs work better with Dutch Stingerz: the Tadpole has grosgrain tie-outs. I can put a Stinger on, but I don't like the way the webbing gets bunched up. However, it's probably possible to thread split rings on the tie-outs - so this could be fixed. However, the other tie-outs are just webbing - no triangles or anything. Since I'm using prusiks on my guylines, it's hard to hold on to the tie-outs while pulling the guylines tight.

Otherwise, the Tadpole is a nice tarp. I would order one again if I wanted a special fabric. But I would ask to add triangles on the tie-outs.
It was actually one of your older posts that had me concerned about the rings. But as you said, I guess I could add the rings. The thing I kind of like about the Tadpole is that I could add doors later if I wanted (only an issue if the SuperFly never turns up, really).

    Decisions, decisions...

There are a few pre-made silpoly tarps out there if you look around...

Warbonnet sells a door kit for the Edge.

Doh! How did I miss that? Thanks!

Leaning heavily towards the Edge now. Although intrigued by some of the SilPoly offerings... *sigh* Time to go dig through more boxes hoping to find the SuperFly again.

I ordered my 12 ft SilPoly Winter Haven from Simplylightdesigns and it is so light and wispy. I was amazed at how light this much tarp was and not to have to worry about it stretching when wet made the decision even easier for me.

Totally love my Tadpole. Been through a deluge or two in it as well and it has performed flawlessly! Marty is so helpful and makes a great product.

I also have been delighted with everything I have ever gotten from Jared at Simply Light designs.

I vote for the Edge as well. I have the superfly and mamajamba with door kit. I used to like the versatility of the doors, but now I just look at the forecast and simply take either the MJ without doors or the SF.

If I could do it over, I would go SF and Edge. But I guess I can always sell and go that route if I feel the need.

BTW, my SF and Mamajamba pretty much pack into the same size. And they cram really well in a pack so you shouldn't notice one taking up more space than the other.

Interesting. I was thinking that I would eventually get the door kit and then if the Superfly ever turned up, I would just sell the Superfly and always use the edge -- decided whether or not to take/deploy the doors based on the forecast/conditions. Is the door kit that much of a hassle?

Not a big hassle, but if I'm using the doors that means a decent chance of moderate/heavy rain. In that case I just take the superfly. Plus, I like that there is no gap...all once piece. Not that rain would get between the tarp and door kit, though.

The doors are just 4 extra pieces to deal with so I always tried to leave them home. Sometimes I'll take just 2 doors and choose which end I needed them on...but that was a stretch.
