A rising sea floats all boats equally. More hammockers = more people wanting hammocks = more sales for everyone including cottage vendors. Everyone who buys one will be a candidate for an underquilt sale. REI employs over 12,000 Americans. The whole cottage manufacturing thing is quaint and everything, but employs very few people overall. BTW, your phone is made by Huawei in China.

How about we give it a chance before we slam it. I know, I know, "If it isn't our cottage vendors it must be crap..."
    Even our vendors started somewhere...

Looks single layer so it's probably a good thick fabric. It will be interesting to see the weight limit if it's an "ultralight" product. Can't have both low weight and heavy weight limit. Especially in a non custom setting where the product is sold to the general public (although rei is a restricted club to be fair).

One of things about warbonnet i hate: Brown hammocks. I suppose it's a money issue, but I imagine mass market products need to be in bright colors and this hammock is certainly bright. Jacks are better is the same.

one has to remember when you want a great burger do you go to McDonalds ?
does Porsche say OH NO Hyundai said they are making a sports car ?

IMHO this will be great many will try and return ! and many will try love it educate themselves and realize better products exist

some cottage folks might become the next arcteryx

I am curious as to insulation options and why they have not had SOMEONE tell the designers we need insulation ? kind makes me wonder who is helping them design these things
they could do so many cool things but seem to always fall short

The problem I have with REI, is that their business model is to put stuff on the shelves, see what sells well, make a knockoff and then put it right next to the original item but sell it for 10-20% less. Alot of their REI branded items seem to fall in this category.

Not everybody wants to be colored like a fluorescent fruit loop in the woods. Earth tones are an obvious choice, so if a company wants to avoid color choices to simplify things a bit, i.e, JRB, Warbonnet as mentioned, earth tones are a sure bet.

No it doesn't, but I never said that it did, however alot of their products in general do seem to meet that description though.

All of that is good for the consumer don't you think? More choices.
