How to get a flatter lay

Title should read "how to get a flatter lay" thanks tablet , can't edit it now.

I've had a ukhammocks woodsman x for a couple of years now.
    I love it to bits.
But, occasionally I get a situation where I can feel my arse sticking out and my body bending slightly. It results in mild lower back pain later on.

The woodsman x has a food box adjuster but I presume that's more for the calf ridge.

If I were to change the ridge line of the hammock to help, should it go shorter or longer?

Or is there another possible cause?

I feel like I'm missing something basic.

    Thanks all!

Worth paying attention to the relative heights of the suspension at the head and foot end.

How long is that hammock? When I went from my ENO DN (9'4") to a diy 10'6" hammock I noticed a much nicer lay despite the additional width of the DN. I recently made an 11' hammock for my brother and found it to be noticeably better than my 10'6" in terms of lay. Which is a roundabout way of saying, a longer hammock may provide a flatter lay.

    I believe it's a 3 metre hammock (about 9'10").
    With about a 2.7m ridge line (8' 10")

I will try making a longer open hammock at the 11' mark and see how's it feels.
I also need to try out out over night without the bug net zipped up as I am wondering if it's restricting the spread of the fabric.

I usually hang my head at just above eye level and the feet at the top of my head (I'm 5'11")

    Does that sounds enough difference?

Sounds like you are measuring that at the tree, which is convenient, but does not take into account the variable of tree separation. A more consistent measure is looking at the ends of your hammock. I go for nipple height at the foot, and bottom of the ribcage, at the head end. But that only works for my 11 foot hammock. With my shorter DD, the difference is less. But, it's all very personal.
