    Ooooh OK.
I've been reading the wrong details then. I suppose I had been reading a lot about the previous silpoly pu4000.

That makes my life a lot easier.
Especially when it comes to Seam sealing. As I can apply on either side.

Like this stuff even more now.

Quick work there fella, haven't got mine out of the parcel yet.
Looking good (should have persuaded you to take a commission).

I'm also having some trouble determining which side is which with the Forest Green, but I usually have to ask my wife, anyway. It looks like you have a great pitch even without cat cuts, I'm still trying to decide what I will do on the winter tarp I have planned. I'm thinking maybe a slight 3" cat cut on the long sides and call it a day.

I love what you did with the ridge tie outs - I might steal that idea.
Thanks. By all means steal away.

Would probably benefit from 3" cat cut. It does pitch without crease but there is a little less tension in the centre. I'm personally taking the compromise as I want to be able to use it in a tent like setup for ground camping and I think the cat cuts would mess with the tarp origami lol.

I had a TW tarp that had a single triangle on the ridge, and it always worked really well at spreading the force.
When making mine I thought why not do a square so that it has more reinforcing strength.

If your interested on the detail I did a bag like Seam on two different color of reinforcing fabric squares on what would be the outside triangle. Making sure I sewed in the grosgrain tie out (inside out at this point) flipped it inside out for pretty seams and then the in sewn half of the diamond fits over the ridge line Seam (above and below). It's possibly massive overkill in extra fabric and strength but it adds a nice diamond that distributes the stress to the fabric engage nicely. Like the peak of a cat cut.

This is the first time I've made or modded one like this (hell is my first first tarp beginning to end lol) so I'm not 100% sure how they will pan out.

Couple of closeups to shows you what I mean. First one is before I fully sew it into the ridge line.

    Apologies for the bad lighting.uploadfromtaptalk1455239009354.jpguploadfromtaptalk1455239034740.jpg

Lol yeah well don't look to close at the quality of the sewing
Let's just say you can see which side I started sewing first.
Also I just got carried away, didn't finish til 5am.
I just kept thinking how annoyed I'd be to have it half finished in the morning and unable to pitch it in the light lol

My work suffered the following day I can tell you that lol.

OK, i am havering about thread for this material.
I know that most recommend Mara 70, but I haven't got that. I have Sew-All (which is effectively Mara 100) or Extra Strong M782 (which is No. 40 thickness). The shops here don't have the Mara 70.
I am minded to side with the Sew-All, being a fine fabric. I reckon the Extra Strong will be overkill, and the bigger needle will have to punch some meaty holes.
Or should I cool my heels, and just mail order some Mara 70. Itching to get on with this now, all cut and pinned.

I did a hex tarp with Sew All last year and it's going strong, I'd sew away.

Sew all is fine, I've made 3 tarps with it, have pitched really tight in some serious winds and never had an issue.
