Ahh brittler kind of thing. OK. But the aged hydrostatic head would likely be lower (when you finally get some fabric that's been around long enough)

    That's kinda cool.

So, how rainy does it have to be to need the higher hydrostatic rating? Is it more the intensity or duration of rainfall that makes the difference? I just want a light tarp that packs small and keeps me dry....and doesn't make my spending fund cry.

The intensity mainly. With tree cover you don't necessarily need an extremely high HH rating. I think a tarp out of this MEMBRANE silpoly will be fairly small and somewhat lightweight . You should make one and let us know.

Screw it, it's my birthday month and I need a winter tarp.

Kyle, what color thread do you recommend for the Foliage Green?

Hunter green is a bit darker, but should still be nice.

Think of hh like resistance to pushing on something. Like thickness of wood.

The higher the hh the harder the wood. You could tap gently all night on thin ply board and not get through. But if you punch it.

(Don't worry though, if your tarp leaks you won't have a fist hole through it lol)

Best metaphor I could come up with

Only exception is if you get water gather in a pool on your tarp from gentle rain. Then your asking to test it.
