Would I see any real world benefit to upsizing?

I'm 5'4", 150 lbs. I am currently using a hammock bliss Double that is roughly 118"x80". Its made of parachute nylon. I use a SRL and i don't feel THAT flat in it. I can add more sag but eventually I'm going hit the ground if i don't hang it using a ladder. I'm not uncomfortable , per se but i feel kind of squished inward and cant seem to get my legs comfortable. Lately I've been contemplating an 11' hammock made of a different material. If I went to a longer but likely narrower hammock of a less stretchy material, would I really see much difference do you think? Doesn't seem s though an extra 14" or less of length would make much difference. I mean, I'm already only 3 apples tall so my current hammock seems like a lot of wasted space. I've been debating DIYing one out of some HyperD (because I like the way it looks) or just getting a tablecloth. Thoughts?

Go to nearest hang and look at different hammocks talk with as many hammockers as you can and ask if you can try their hammocks, so you can decide what you want. Read some posts on Hammock Forums. Good luck!

Yes I'd go with an 11 foot hammock and you can try a table cloth hammock in various sizes. And maybe try Hexon material, for less stretch.

I've never tried the Knotty Mod, but there are so many fabrics available these days. I'm kinda hooked on polyester hammocks because I like the lack of stretch. I'm planning on trying out a Dutch Hexon 1.6 in the near future.

When I went from 9'4" long hammock to an 11', I did notice a big difference. Although the 11' is not as wide, the extra length helped get rid of calf-ridge and I get a flatter lay when laying at less of a bias. Laying at less of a bias helps keep my UQ in position better.

I am 6' and don't know if it would make as much a difference for someone smaller.

Thanks everyone. I thinking for the price I may as well snag one of the 90x132 tablecloths and have at it. Although Im thinking a narrower hammock might be nice because I get alot of flop now in my 80" wide Double. Doesnt really annoy me though. Sometimes in the summer without a tarp I like the flaps for shade.

If you want to go camping with the new hammock, think about going for a 10.5' hammock. I'm the same size as you, and I feel a difference between a 10' and an 11' hammock. But I don't really get much more comfort out of it after ~10.5'. However, most of my comfort depends on fabric and hammock design anyway. Just experiment with different lengths and maybe fabrics and see what suits you best.

Or try less sag. Shorter hammocks do not need as much sag, nor require as much of a diagonal lay. As mentioned by others, fabric choice is a major variable too. I use one of the shortest and narrow hammocks available and it is fantastic. Tried others, but keep coming back. I do think the heavier fabric makes a difference for me.

I may try that, using less sag i mean. It made a great difference when i went from no SRL to using one however, adding more sag at this point doesn't seem to make improvement. Maybe the stretchy fabric is too stretchy. Ill have to try something less so.
