Show off your DIY Costco Quilts

There a ton of post here for some wonderful DIY Costco quilts and I think I have read them all. I learn always learn something just looking at the photos to see how folks put them together.

So let's see em. Post some pics of your Costco quilts.

    I'll go first.

Here's one I made with a foot box and some Orange trim. I used bser272's instructions and it turned out great. Extra long too. I'm 6'3 and 350lbs. Plenty big enough for me. I can pull it over my head if I want too. I ripped a few of the seams around the foot box, but what a job! I couldn't bring myself to doing the rest. What a PITA.

I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

I just ordered 2 from Ebay, at a significant markup although much cheaper than Amazon. There's no costco near me or I'd have gone there.

I'm planning on making a no-sew insulation system that goes over my ridgeline, and will be like the top half of a sock, only insulated.

I have a snugpak hammock cocoon, and I love having an enclosed, insulated space. I can then sleep in the winter with no hat, and since I mostly sleep with my arms above my head, it keeps my arms warm. What I dont like about the cocoon is that it does no allow a diagonal lay, and it's really heavy. Since I have a good underquilt, I don't really need the insulation that the bottom of the cocoon provides.

My solution is to make an insulation system, held together by snaps, made from costco quilts. I'm planning on making it in a way, that you can easily unsnap the system, and snap it together into a top quilt as well.

We'll see how this goes. Will report back in a few days when the supplies arrive.

Here is a top quilt I did for a friend. I gutted one top quilt and added about 5 oz of down to this one. It's sitting about 3 1/2" of loft. It'll do nicely down to the mid thirties.

Ordered some more down (cheaper by the pound than by the throw). Once it arrives, going to do a matching UQ. Then I'm doing a set for myself in the copper.

That looks nice BigE and Wonderlust! I'll go next with my TQ & UQ. I used a gray/silver throw and a blue throw to create a modular UQ with 1 or 3 layers to accommodate the temps that I am most likely to camp in. I have since trimmed off the green and red tabs in the pictures and created channels along both long sides and along both ends for better suspension.

I used a purple one for my TQ.

Thanks for starting this thread. I hope other crafty members will "throw" their products into the mix because I have 2 more throws that I have available to modify.

This thread was a good idea BigE.

    Here's my topquilt:

My Underquilt (I've since added a secondary suspension):

I'll have to dig up pictures of my wife's full length UQ...

And my newest project, the Black Rock inspired down beanie:

Used about 18 squares of the throw, although I could have gotten away with 12. 168 total squares/12 per beanie, means you could make 14 beanies from one throw!

I don't have a pic of mine, but it looks just like this. I do have shock cord on the ends to cinch it up.

I have bought 3 of the throws to make into UQ's. I haven't done anything to them yet because i thought I might have bit off more then I could chew. I have not done anything like this before but looking at everyones work, I have been inspired. Thanks for starting this thread Big E. I am looking forward to seeing more creations and I hope mine too.
