I now have 2 choices for Kevlar webbing, straps and huggers. We have carried the Kevlar 3.3 for about 9 months with great success. It has a 2000 pound breaking strength and weighs 3.3 grams per foot which is about half the weight of Polyester webbing with the same rating. Now to keep pushing the limits we are offering Kevlar 2.2 which is still 1 inch wide but it is really thin. To put that into perspective, it weighs 2.2 grams per foot and 7/64ths amsteel weighs about 1.7 grams per foot. Also this new Kevlar has an extremely tight weave to reduce fraying and snagging on bark. I have been using mine for all my trips this last year and except being dirty, it shows no signs of wear. We are making available the webbing in 10 foot lengths and also Huggers and Straps. This is a huge weight reduction for suspensions and is about as light as you can get and use 1 inch wide webbing around the tree. Please make note that Kevlar degrades from UV light so this is not a good choice for your backyard hammock. It also does not work well with buckles. It will however work well with Dutch clips and as a marlin spike hitch.
