Why are continuous loops just buried in the hole it comes out of? Doesn't it loosen eventually?

Noob here. I made some continuous loops and I checked them after a day and the section where the two meet opened up. I'm pretty sure I buried them enough.

As I was making them I noticed with some slack it had the potential the open up. Is this correct: The hole where one end comes out of is the same hold you bury it in?

There are not buried in the same hole. Each end is passed through the cord to lock the loop (locked brummel)

There are multiple threads regarding the nature of this topic. Do a quick search and you'll find pages of splicey goodness

Those pass-throughs do not constitute a locked brummel. Several threads on this. If you pull on the loop before doing the buries, it will come apart. No "lock." This is not like a spliced eye where there actually is a locked brummel.

The pass-throughs accomplish nothing. ALL of the strength is in the buries. A stitch or two where the two buries start (right next to each other) will stop the buries from creeping out as loads change.
