    Snugpak Hammock "cocoon" Hanging

I got a Snugpak Hammock cocoon. I was thinking of using light bungee cords to hold it in place with end loops. Plus have some "give" with hammock setting. What your thoughts on this.. Thanks a bunch..Jeff

I have a Snugpak cocoon! Love it! I sleep in shorts and tshirt down below 40 here in GA. I have seen the videos where people tried to hard line it from the loops to hang it and it rips the loops out. I ran 18" shock cord through the loops then tied a knot making a loop. I put an S-biner on each. I can attach it to tree straps or whoopie sling (with prusik knot). This gives spring in case you miss judge your sag and end up pushing the cocoon down. Also, having the shock cord run through both loops on an end, across the opening, it sort of helps draw the ends closed around the hammock. For me I have found that on my 10' hammock if I hang the cocoon so that about 6" of the hammock ends are showing out the ends of the cocoon, it hangs just right with plenty of air cushion between bottom of my hammock and the cocoon so no crushing happens. Hope this helps!

Oops!!! I run 1/8" shock cord, not 18"! Actually I prolly have 24" of shock cord on each end to play with simply because when I first tried it, i wasn't sure how much I would need.

Let me know how it goes and if you come up with some other ideas. We are finally getting some cold weather here in GA so I hope to be able to really put it to the test this week.

I put a small carabiner. With about 8 inches of shock cord, and tied it to the loops at the head and foot end. I clip the biners to the suspension. Keeps the cocoon from shifting around.

Something I didn't like when I first tried the cocoon, was that when zipped up it rested against my face. I fixed that by putting 3 inches of shock cord and a mini biner, attached to the zipper. I clip this to the ridgeline. Lifts the material up off my face, and doesn't really seem to put much stress on the zipper.
