Hmmm. In my industry (software engineer) there is a saying. There is cheap, fast, and right. Pick two. The moral of the story is, you need to pick two. There is smallest and lightest but not considered cheap. In all seriousness I think the best bang for your buck that will include light and small is Dutchware.
Second dutchware. Simplest (sort of ringish but not biner) would probably be titanium cinch buckle with straps.
does the dutch hook work with 7/64 amsteel?
Click here for the Dutch Biners. They have a 1000 lb. breaking strength and weigh less than 20g for the pair.
If you want fully rated climbing karabiners look at the Elderid Nineteen-G, it's the world's lightest full strength (>2000kg) climbing krab at 19 grammes.
at ŁUK 6.83 a piece.
I know they are OTT for most applications, but at only 19 grams, they are in the same ballpark as non-climbing krabs with much lower strengths.
