Hello all!
My wife and I are just getting into hanging and have been doing much reading here and on other sites. We've purchased two Grand Trunk doubles as our first Hammocks. We haven't hung them yet as we're still researching a simple suspension system, weight is important but not too much of a concern as we'll primarily be doing weekend hikes/car camping in local state parks. Need time away from the kids ya know!

Heya Sidneyhornblower and Gutyones! Glad to see there are other Georgian's here. I'm a transplant, but I like it here.
My wife and I are planning to visit Whitewater Creek park in Macon County in the next couple months. Any other places around here we might look into?
Also, doing my research on this sight for suspension systems I think I've settled on Whoopie slings and tree straps. My better half has already purchased 45ft of poly straps and I've found some 1/8" amsteel on dutchwaregear for 7.25 per 25ft. I'll be making my own 6' whoopie slings next weekend.

Hello from another middle Georgia hanger, just north of you. Georgia has become a pretty acceptable place to hang now. Most state parks allow it wil straps.

Welcome to the site from another GA hanger. The DIY thing is very addictive, be very careful. The next you know, you will be buying Amsteel by the 100s of feet.
