Never saw the original notice (Still can't find it by searching). How many spots did they have to start with?

Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks.

Hank Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks!

You are correct jlink. I am friends with all the folks at Great Miami Outfitters. They are great folks but lack in the area of hammock knowledge outside of the limited lines they carry. The only reason they even know about whoopie slings is due to me making some for them. Most of the folks from Hammockforums would be most likely the most knowledgeable at the event about hammocks as a whole. A former employee and I started the frozen butt hang through GMO a few years back trying to get them excited about hammocking but it has not went past the annual FBH.

We however meet at least monthly in Twin creek. Our group has years of combined experience with in depth hammock hanging, back packing and general lolly gagging by the fire telling stupid jokes and eating a lot of very unhealthy food. It is my fault that I have not posted any of the hangs due to just being lazy I guess and for the fact that we meet most of the time on Sunday nights because we all happen to be off on Sundays and Mondays. I am going to try to get something in the works real soon for a Saturday night. I will definitely post the hang and we will have a great time as we always do talking everything hammocks and showing off all of our gear Only requirement is that you have a great fun attitude because we go to the woods to get away from anything but. You can come and talk to me anytime as Cranky can tell you at Field and Stream, I am the camping supervisor at the one in Austin Landing and just love to get people going in the right direction which a lot of times is sending them to Great Miami Outfitters due to their great selection of gear.

Please don't take me the wrong way, the GMO folks are great!! I support their business all the time sending people their way. They are just not well versed in hammocking. But a great bunch too hang out with and a great little shop in general. Not so much for the ultra light crowd.

I look forward to meeting you next week!

I plan to be there to see everyone's setup and hope I get bumped up from the wait list.

Initial forecast looks like the 20s. That's the coldest I've hung so far so it shouldn't be too bad. I know I could go down to the teens with my current setup but single digits may be too cold.

I ordered some more bling from Dutch to play with and see what I like best. I look forward to seeing everyone's setup.

This will be my first FBH. Do you know why the limit registration to 35?

I've never camped at Germantown so I don't know if it's a space limitation.

I am not sure why there is a limit, but I have a guess. Open camping is not allowed at Germantown Metro. The organizers had to pull a permit from the Metroparks. I wouldn't be surprised if the number is a set requirement of the permit.

    Ahhhh. That certainly makes sense.

Updated weather forecast has it in the mid-teens for Saturday night.

Yes, Mountnman confirmed some things I was trying to figure out about hammocks and stoves and pointed me to some great cottage industry vendors, this great forum and Shug's videos. He then snipped some paracord from a roll and showed me a couple of handy knots and suggested GMO for a product that F&S didn't carry - thanks! If you're in the hood, give him a visit.

I have so much to learn and have only hung twice in my hammock... but these resources gave me enough confidence to hang solo in the woods last Sunday night, when it dipped to -1°.
